(VOXtra) - Well, we're getting ahead of ourselves on that script. But the elegant evening Gala on November 5 is little more than one month away, and the Society of Voice Arts & Sciences (SOVAS) has announced nominees for this year's competition (click to see all nominees). Judges are now winnowing down the lists of finalists to select the "best of" in each category - and those winners will be announced and cheered at the Gala. Now in its fourth year, the Voice Arts Awards has grown to honor the best in voice over in scores of categories, from demos to tv, radio and web commercials, e-learning, promos, video games, animation, audiobooks, storytelling, Spanish language VO, radio imaging, podcasts and more.  "This year we're thrilled to bring the show to Lincoln Center," says Emmy Award-winning producer and SOVAS CEO Rudy Gaskins (pictured with wife Joan Baker). "The nominees include many of the top names in entertainment, and there is no better venue to showcase their amazing accomplishments in voice over."Those well-known names among nominees include actors Kerry Washington, Owen Wilson, Chris Cooper, John Rhys-Davies, Cheech Martin, astrophysicist Neil Degrasse Tyson and O.J. Simpson trial prosecutor Marcia Clark. Many other finalists are well-known within the voice over industry - or soon to be so. Also on the Gala agenda:  Popular voice actor Bob Bergen (the voice of Porky Pig and many other endeared animation characters) will present Lily Tomlin with this year's Voice Arts® Icon Award for lifetime achievement. Previous recipients include James Earl Jones, William Shatner and Michael Buffer. Three-time Emmy winner Keith David, who currently stars in Oprah Winfrey's hit show "Greenleaf" on OWN, will present the second annual Muhammad Ali Voice of Humanity Honor to acclaimed documentary filmmaker Ken Burns (pictured). Last year's co-recipients were President Barack Obama and Muhammad Ali.  A day earlier, on Saturday, November 4, SOVAS presents its annual That's Voiceover! Career Expo at the Times Center in New York. Another one of those Hollywood elitist "let's pat ourselves on the backs" awards shows. These people don't necessarily represent the "tops." C'mon. What a bunch of malarky. It's a clique. Unlikely that this comment will even pass the moderators of this forum, which will further prove the point. And btw Lily Tomlin is a sexist, hateful person who has no business getting any award at this point. She was relevant over 40 years ago.
