Meet Audiobooks' Best At Audies Gala
& Learn From The Best At Narrator Track
May 12, 2010

The 15th Annual Audies Awards & Gala, May 25 in New York City, is the ultimate audiobook industry hobnob affair - where audiobook publishers and narrators dress up and mingle to celebrate the best in audiobook performances and presentations.

And the APAC (Audio Publishers Association Conference) Narrator Track, a day earlier, also in New York, offers a full day of panel sessions and training by the industry's stars.

Tickets for both events are still available from the APA at www.audiopub.org; 609-799-6327.

THE WINNERS ARE ...

Sponsored by the Audio Publishers Association, the Audies® are the "Oscars" of the audiobook industry, recognizing achievement in more than 30 categories, including Best Male and Best Female solo narrators.

Finalists for this year's competition were announced earlier (see Audie Finalists Announced for Record-Breaking Competition, and APA Names 'Audiobook of the Year' Nominees.

The black tie-optional Gala will be held at the Museum of the City of New York, starting with cocktails and "delectables" at 7 p.m., and ending with a Champagne and Dessert reception at 10 p.m.

In between, of course, is the main event - presentation of the Audie Awards to this year's winners.

Gary Dell’Abate, executive producer for the Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM, will host the Gala. An avid audiobook listener, Dell’Abate contributed to the narration of comedian Artie Lange’s hit audiobook, Too Fat to Fish, last year.

Audiobook publishers and narrators will also be in New York a day earlier, May 24, for the APA's annual conference - featuring separate educational session tracks for the publishers and narrators.

All sessions will be held at the Westin Times Square Hotel.

"APAC is the premier event in the audiobook industry, designed to address industry trends and provide networking opportunities for industry leaders," the APA explains.

And for a full day, audiobook narrators will be treated to seven education sessions:

Narration Master Class, with Grover Gardner, Sue Mackewich, Robin Miles and Stephan Rudnicki

Do's & Dont's of Home Studios, with Sean Runnette, Michael Conroy, Grover Gardner, Rene Raudman and Sue Zizza

Mics, Monitoring and Soundproofing: Things to Consider Now That You Need to Record Yourself, with David Shinn, Sue Zizza and Sean Runnette
